KIDS Center provides
comprehensive evaluations for children for which there is a suspicion of
them having been abused.
This evaluation consists
of a forensic interview and a medical evaluation that does a head-to-toe
assessment. Children can refuse examination and questioning at any time,
it is voluntary and we will always offer to see them another time if they are not ready to talk yet.
Because our evaluations
are part of an investigatory process, children are referred to KIDS Center by
either law enforcement agencies, child protective services, a community medical
provider or a licensed mental health provider.
There is no charge for
these evaluations, however KIDS Center does bill medical insurances to help
reimburse the costs. Families may be billed for lab work if it is needed.
KIDS Center is a regional service provider, serving 7 counties in
central and eastern Oregon with training and education on issues related to
child abuse.
