It is important to remember that when a child has been abused, their family is also trying to come to terms with what has happened. That is where our Family Advocates can help. We provide the family emotional support and resources to help the child and family members start their healing process. Sadly, we find that some children are living with the abuser, so when their home life changes, the children and non-offending caregiver can find themselves without a home or basic supplies.
We connect families in a timely manner with many of our community partners, whether they need shelter, food or therapy, we can point them in the right direction. We continue to support families as long as needed as they navigate what can be a very complicated system. In addition to these valuable connections, our Family Advocates provide a caring and safe environment for the family to share their concerns and challenges, along with the changing emotions of a family coming to terms with the abuse.
