Created for parents, caregivers, and those who work with or on behalf of children, our Let’s Talk About It training helps you talk about safety in a way that’s appropriate for your child’s age. This training provides education and insight on the ages and stages of a child’s development, examining each through a social, physical, and developmental lens. The training also provides guidance on how to talk to children about their bodies. You will learn about neurotypical childhood and adolescent development and determine what is considered problematic or inappropriate behavior in children and youth. Participants will go through scenarios to gain hands-on experience on how to handle certain behaviors, situations, or questions that a child may have with the appropriate response while remaining calm. The training is ideal for participants with or who work with children and youth ages 0-17 years old. We recommend taking this class every year.

Experts estimate that 1 out of every 10 children will be sexually abused before their 18th birthday. The greatest risk to our children doesn’t come from strangers but from our friends and family; 90% of all victims know their abusers.
Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children® is a 2.5-hour interactive training program providing participants with 5 steps to better protect children from sexual abuse. It gives adults tools for recognizing the signs of sexual abuse, responding to suspicions, and gives simple ways to minimize opportunities for abuse in organizations and in our community. This training is ideal for any adult in our community who has interactions with children. We recommend taking this class every two years.
KIDS Center is proud to be 1 of 13 sites, across the state of Oregon and Siskiyou County, partnering with The Ford Family Foundation to increase safety for children by providing Darkness To Light’s Stewards of Children® to adults in our rural communities.
This training is made possible through the generosity of The Ford Family Foundation.
