Founded in 1994, KIDS Center leads our region’s response to child abuse. We partner with law enforcement, medical providers, and social service agencies to serve Central Oregon children and families impacted by abuse. KIDS Center provides training and resources for multi-disciplinary teams and offers free prevention education for community members.

Current Openings

  • KIDS Center is currently looking to fill a part-time Development Coordinator position. This position is responsible for all donor database management, donor recognition and gift acknowledgment, reports, and queries.

    This role is responsible for pulling accurate lists for all direct mailings, email campaigns, donor relationship journeys and fundraising queries as scheduled and requested by the Development Team. The Development Coordinator also coordinates the Annual Healing Hearts Luncheon including table captain recruitment, sponsor relations, gift processing, budget management, décor, and volunteers. Additionally, this position coordinates any annual direct mailings (Holiday Card Campaign) and supports all KIDS Center fundraising initiatives (including but not limited to Cork & Barrel) and beneficiary events.

    A successful Development Coordinator will have a bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years’ experience in the development field, and three years’ experience coordinating events and other complex activities in support of development objectives. A combination of education and years of experience may be considered to meet the requirement.

    Experience with online donor technology, ability to analyze data, run accurate queries, and database management skills are essential.

    The right fit will have exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with leadership, prospects, donors, sponsors, vendors and/or volunteers in a wide range of roles.

    Our starting hourly wage ranges from $25.00 per hour, commensurate with experience for a 32-hour work week.

  • KIDS Center Forensic Interviewers embody the mission of making life better for others through their compassion and commitment to this work. They do so by working together with state child welfare workers, law enforcement, medical providers, and other social service agencies to create a supportive response to child abuse through a multi-disciplinary team approach.

    This position is responsible for gathering caregiver history from families and conducting video-recorded forensic interviews of children (primarily aged 4 – 17). The information collected will be synthesized in a written report. If you see yourself as a Child Forensic Interviewer, we invite you to apply for this opportunity. This position is based in Bend, Oregon and serves Deschutes, Crook, Jefferson, Sherman, Wheeler, and Harney counties.

    Essential Functions

    • Network with law enforcement and child protective agencies through contact with agency personnel.

    • Conduct sensitive, thorough, and forensically sound interviews to obtain relevant information about allegations of abuse.

    • Obtain information in a forensically sound neutral manner in compliance with the State of Oregon Forensic Interviewing Guidelines and other legal requirements for evidence.

    • Conduct post-evaluation debrief sessions with parents/caregivers. Provide pertinent educational materials to families and make recommendations for referrals to appropriate community services.

    • Collaborate with members of the KIDS Center Evaluation Team to support case staffing.

    • Compose reports with pertinent information gathered from caregivers during the social history and from the child during the interview.

    • Testify in court as to the results of the interviews with a child. Be thoroughly prepared to testify before Grand Jury and other court matter as requested.

    • Promote community awareness of child abuse issues through educational trainings.

    • Participate in regular peer reviews.

    • Participate in Multi-Disciplinary team meetings.

    • Conduct regional program trainings and/or participate in public speaking engagements related to forensic interviewing and KIDS Center as requested.

    To Be Considered You Must Have

    • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field.

    • Five (5) years of direct experience.

    • Ability to relate to children and adults of all ages, races, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds as well as professionals across multiple disciplines and individuals in crisis situations.

    • Comfortable with technology, including video recording equipment.

    • Excellent typing, verbal, and written communication skills.

    • Demonstrated ability to function on a team effectively.

    • Demonstrated ability to produce legible, accurate, and timely written reports.

    • Capacity for empathy.

    • Ability to self-direct.

    These Are A Plus

    • Master’s degree in a related field.

    • LCSW, CSWA, LPC

    • Bilingual in Spanish.

  • This position is responsible for providing mental health assessment and treatment to children and their caregivers impacted by abuse in our community. The position will be responsible for working collaboratively with community partners and agencies to best support the mental health needs of families we serve. A portion of this position will also include outreach and education to our community partners.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provide short and long-term mental health assessment and treatment services (specialized trauma-informed and evidence-based therapy) to children and their caregivers impacted by abuse.

    • Provide mental health support and referral services as appropriate to walk-ins and hotline calls.

    • Complete safety assessments and crisis support in collaboration with evaluation team members and refer/collaborate with appropriate resources as necessary/appropriate.

    • Establish and maintain an appropriate therapeutic relationship with clients.

    • Maintain clinical record keeping requirements, including therapy referrals, pre- and post-assessments and treatment and termination documentation promptly.

    • Administer, score, and interpret evidence-based assessment tools.

    • Work collaboratively with other mental health agencies and referring parties to connect families with appropriate therapeutic services.

    • Provide statistics on service provision for grantors and other functions.

    • Maintain high ethical standards concerning the treatment and client confidentiality.

    • Maintain professional communications and case coordination with all involved social services agencies and community resources.

    • Promote and practice our organizational values of trust, integrity, care, empathy, impact, humility, excellence, equity, and teamwork.

    • Participate in regular supervision, team, and staff meetings.

    • Provide court testimony and expert witness testimony when requested.

    • Engage in community training and or/educational opportunities when requested.

    • Adhere to the National Children’s Alliance (NCA) standards.

    • Perform other duties as requested by the Director of Client Programs and Prevention.

    • Other duties as requested. These duties would include helping to build community relationships in the tri-county and other rural areas for the maximization of resources for treatment options.

    Required Education and Experience

    • Master’s degree in a mental health-related field and a professional license or working towards a professional license.

    Preferred Education and Experience

    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in providing therapy related to abuse/neglect, including domestic violence.

    • Trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and/or Parent-Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT) strongly preferred.

    • Bilingual in Spanish.
