Darkness to Light:

Stewards of Children

For: Parents, caregivers and adults who work with or on behalf of kids
Length: 2.5 Hours
Offered: Virtually and in-person (at locations across Central Oregon)
Cost: Free

Experts estimate that 1 out of every 10 children will be sexually abused before their 18th birthday. The greatest risk to our children doesn’t come from strangers but from our friends and family; 90% of all victims know their abusers.

Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children® is a 2.5-hour interactive training program providing participants with 5 steps to better protect children from sexual abuse. It gives adults tools for recognizing the signs of sexual abuse, responding to suspicions, and gives simple ways to minimize opportunities for abuse in organizations and in our community. This training is ideal for any adult in our community who has interactions with children. We recommend taking this class every two years.

KIDS Center is proud to be 1 of 13 sites, across the state of Oregon and Siskiyou County, partnering with The Ford Family Foundation to increase safety for children by providing Darkness To Light’s Stewards of Children® to adults in our rural communities.

This training is made possible through the generosity of The Ford Family Foundation.

Bystanders Protecting Children

A bystander is a person who witnesses a boundary violation, or sees a situation where a child is vulnerable. Being prepared to intervene as a bystander is key to preventing child sexual abuse. You will receive examples of boundary violations and inappropriate behaviors, and how you can make spontaneous and planned interventions that reinforce boundaries and protect children.
