3 Ways to Create a Safer Community for Kids
Check out this video: Strong Bystanders Take Risks
In this video, we are reminded that children need us to set aside our own self-concern and/or fear of creating an uncomfortable situation so that we can speak up and help protect them from abuse. Darkness to Light’s (D2L) “Two Minutes for Prevention” video series covers a range of topics from Talking to Kids About Sex to Showing Non-Touch Warmth and Caring. We encourage you to explore the many resources available on the D2L website and to use these videos as conversation starters with other adults in your life. The videos also provide a sneak peek at the kind of information covered in Darkness to Light’s trainings.
KIDS Center has been training Central Oregon locals in Darkness to Light curriculum since 2005. In that time we’ve trained over 12,000 people to recognize and prevent child sexual abuse! We’ve been able to reach so many local adults thanks to our dedicated staff and volunteer trainers, who are committed to helping make our community safer for kids.
In 2020, we continue to take pride in our affiliation with D2L and appreciate the organization as a steadfast prevention resource and fierce advocate for the wellbeing of all children.
